Fairytales!!

Fairy tales are not always true and after my trip to "the enchanted palace "i started looking at one princess who's story really interested me .
Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales was the only child of King George IV of the United Kingdom.Charlotte, as a young girl, suffered from violent mood swings which are thought to be the product of a lack of parental affection.
Her mother often paraded her about to attain the public’s sympathy and Her father liked to use Charlotte to spite her mother.
Charlotte’s education was of relatively poor standards,The Prince of Wales, despite his absence, raised Charlotte under extremely strict terms (much as his father had done him).
The Prince of Wales refused to recognise that his daughter was growing up. He did not allow her to frequent anything but children’s balls and also refused to increase her meagre apparel stipend.
She married Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld in Carlton House on 2 May 1816. After two miscarriages in the early months of their marriage, she conceived for the third time in February 1817 ,she delivered a stillborn 9-pound son on 5 November 1817 But, Charlotte seemed to do well, but after several hours she became restless, had difficulty breathing, and her pulse grew fast and feeble. Five and a half hours after the delivery, she died.
Stories like Charlotte's story are very often forgotten because it's covered by the idea that we have of princesses and that's why i think the gown that Vivienne Westwood created for the enchanted palace is also a big inspiration ,it's destined for a rebellious child ,a rebellious princess.
It has a strong story and that's the kind of message I'm looking at and the kind of garment i will like to created for my project.

Analyse:Enchanted Palace

At "enchanted palace" i had the chance to see some of the personal stuff that belonged to passed royalties and it was very inspiring.
Walking in rooms were princesses like Charlotte or queen Victoria spent their childhood helped me understand in depht what this project is about ,walking into someone privacy is a big deal and in my case it opened my mind on so many things ,the enchanted palace is an amazing exhibition because it reflect so well what royalty is about and also it brings out the things that we keep asking ourselves, how do royalties live their lives ,how do their manage with the responsibilities that they have to face everyday.
"the room of royal sorrows" is a big inspiration for me ,i like that idea of keeping tears in a bottle to mourn a lost one because it's traditional and emotional, the room itself has such a special vibe to it and these are the things that inspires me to create a work ,i like stories that are so strong and stories that can move people.
Also, the architecture of the palace is breathtaking, the artwork on the ceilings ,the chandeliers and everything breaths power and antique ,their are great stuff to look at .
Overall,i like to say that the trip to Kensington Palace "Enchanted Palace" exhibition was a beautiful experience for me as a person and also as a student.

Once upon a time :Enchanted Palace

To start of my project i had a group to London" enchanted palace ,it was a long journey down to London but worth taken.
i loved every moments of it{even the creepy child cry coming from the walls}.It's was a great opportunity for me as a student to go in kensington palace and explore the inside life of the royalties that lived in the palace for decades.
It was a great experience and it opened my eyes on a lot of things and now i kinda know where I'm going with this project.
There was so many different art exposed ,like the Vivienne Westwood dress for a rebellious princess and the sculptures and work exposed .
Such a great way to start a project off!!!

Once upon a time:Brainstorm and statement

I was assigned a brief called "Royal Blue", in which I have to research ,develop and create a garment inspired by royalty .
i have to go back in history to research and find out more about the English royalty ,the french monarchy and many other royal history.
My project is also based on textile techniques of embellishment and embroidery.
I'll have to research and get inspiration from designers and artists who work with beautiful patterns and embellishment techniques.
i want my ideas to reflect through my garment and I'll work toward that goal.
i have been assigned a project where i had to use embellishment and textile techniques so i know in what direction i have to take this project.
I hope to use the advice that I've been provided all year round to create a successful sketchbook and beautiful garment.

I chose to make two brainstorm ,because i realised that there are two sides to royalty.
People tend to relate to the beautiful and happy side of royal families but just like normal families there have problems which is normal but my trip to the "enchanted palace" in London took a lot of my delusion away and i can see that there is more to them than beauty and pearls and that's what i want my work to reflect ,i want to break the perfect picture and focus on the reality and the untold...

End of Year Fashion Show!!!

Yes,i can truly say that the year is over now ,our end of year fashion show was truly amazing even tought i didn't have the luxury to watch the show due to the fact that i was working hard backstage .
Setting up the show was very scary and stressfull ,sorting racks of clothes ,finding models ,the whole process has taught me how to work independantly and confidently to achieve a certain goal .
it was hard but truly amazing and i felt that all my effort were being repaid just by seeing my clothes on the catwalk...
Next year here i come!!!

crit-IQUE

The catastrophe project is already finish and i'm really amazed with the outcomes ,i spent 12 weeks researching and developing the project ,looking at earthquakes all around the world ,designers like Aitor Throup ,Hussein C halayan were my main source of inspiration.
at the beginning of the project i was lost but looking at their work and collections i found my way into the project.
Aitor Throup is a great deisgner ,he takes personal problems and matters and reflect them through his work ,just like "legs" which set the mood for my project.
aitor's work is very expressif ,he defines himself through his art and this is what i aspire to be like.
i look back at my project and i see a lot of things that i could made differently ,i know that i've worked hard but it's not good enough sometimes ,it takes a lot more than hard work to create something beautiful.
i feel like i have not managed to satisfy myself and i've not put myself totally into the project .
i produced better outcomes in my hair project but like they say "we learn from our mistakes" and i'm ready to take on what coming next to me ,i'm ready for the next project which i heard is going to be awesome and i cannot wait for it.

TEMPLATES

SketchBOOK

my fashion sketchbook is a diary that i keep with me at all time,it sort of become a part of me so when i finish a project and i don't have a sketchbook to complete i feel like there's something missing.
For my catastrophe project ,at the beginning i didn't know what directions to take ,i was a little bit lost but i quickly found my ground ,i started imagining an apocalypse scenario and i felt inspired ,everything started to make sense and i was looking at earthquakes in china ,Haiti ,Chile and then utility wear and designers like aito throup,Hussein chalayan,Boris bidjan saberi had a massive influence on my project because of their style and vision, then i started looking at destruction,i started burning fabrics and materials and as moved on ,i started to see my ideas coming to life by sketching and developing drawings and now I'm happy with what my sketchbook looks like ,it defines me and my ideas so I'm pleased with the results.
